2011!

Today is the first day of 2011. My New Year Resolution is to begin this blog as a way to virtually scrapbook your little lives! You are both growing up so fast and amaze me everyday. I want to remember it all! So today, I begin . . .

Dear Aidan,

Today you are 5 years, 4.5 months old. You just recently had your well visit (mom was a little late getting you in) and you weighed 42 pounds and were 46" tall! The doctor says you are tall and lean! 5oth percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. You also had your vision checked and it was 20/20! You have made me smile the last few weeks when I've overheard you tell people that, "The doctor said both my eyes are 20!" We are going to see a speech therapist soon to help you with your "th" sounds because you are having a hard time saying them! No worries, you are still just a wonderful little boy who truly amazes us daily with your intelligence and kind, sweet soul.

You really love drawing right now and you told me yesterday that you want to grow up to be an artist! You really are talented at such a young age, especially your attention to detail. I hope that you continue to love drawing and maybe someday your dreams will come true! Your grandmother, Gree, is also an artist and she hopes to teach you a thing or two!

You are also a really great big brother to Andrew! I know God chose you specifically for that job because it takes a special kiddo to be such a good big brother! Andrew wants to do everything that you do and you handle it fairly well, all things considered!

You will start the 2nd half of Pre-k4 on Monday. You are really interested in reading & have started asking so many questions about it that you are really reading on your own now! But, your favorite thing about school is the letter songs you learn with each letter of the week!  We can sing "Marvin the Monkey" in our sleep!

Over the break, you expressed interest in t-ball again and gymnastics!  You decided not to play soccer again this spring.  So, I have signed you up for Shreveport Little League and will soon sign you up for the boys gymnastic class!  Also on the break, you and I got to spend some one on one time!  I loved seeing you smile and your little love tank fill up by taking you to the Jump Zone with some of your friends and to see "Tangled" at the movie theatre!  How I treasure those experiences!

Your favorite things besides art right now is Toy Story 3 toys and watching movies, when we let you!  Daddy and I (okay, really daddy) bought you your first BB gun for Christmas and you really enjoyed your first target practice with Daddy, Pops, Brady and Seth at the Robert Farm in Wallace, LA.

We love you very much Aidan and are so incredibly thankful that God has placed you in our lives.  You are surely teaching us more and more about ourselves and what it really means to be a grown up and a parent.  We know God has great plans in store for you!  Bear with us too because we are really trying to figure it out along the way as well!  Here's to 2011!

Love,
Mom

Dear Andrew,

Today you are 20 1/2 months old.  I cannot believe you will be two so soon!  Time has really flown by!  At your last doctor's appointment, you weighed 28 lbs!  You are growing so fast!  Right now you are going to a child learning center, called Elizabetta Renzi.  The director is Sister Cristina and your teachers are Mrs. DeeDee, Mrs. Wendy and Mrs. Keisha.  Mrs. Keisha is your favorite and she takes special care of you, which makes mommy feel so much better on days that I have to work late.

You are really into legos, choo-choos, Mickey Mouse, Elmo, puzzles, being outside and anything your brother is doing!  When you want to watch Mickey Mouse, you say, "Mouse, Mouse!"  You are saying at least two new words a day and every time we hear a new one, we are caught off guard!  Your brother, Aidan, loves to keep track of your new words!  I think he's just as proud of you as we are!

You got a Power Wheels ride on for Christmas from Santa and you love it!  It is so neat to watch you figure out how things work!  Santa also brought you a Mickey Mouse Choo Choo train which was a hit!

You are a sweet boy but you are greedy with your love!  You only give it to us when your little heart desires!  It is a rare moment for you to actually sit in one of our laps!  But every night before you go to bed and when you first wake up, you will lay your head on our shoulders and hug our necks!  I call those little God moments!  Little moments that God has given us to remind us that he is real and present in our lives!

This next week on Thursday you are scheduled to have surgery to put tubes in your ears!  You have had so many ear infections lately and the fluid just won't leave your little ears!  You must be miserable.  The doctor says that is part of the reason for you crying and whining so much.  The other part is because you are an almost 2 year old!  That's okay, it's just part of you growing up and learning your way in life.  Apparently God thinks your Daddy and I still need to learn patience . . .  I just hope you can start feeling better soon!

Andrew, you are our true miracle child.  We are so incredibly blessed that God finally sent you to us! We waited for a long time!  You have an amazing sense of humor at such a young age.  You also have your mommy's feisty attitude that you will have to learn how to control over time but it makes you who you are and we wouldn't change that for anything!!  I love your determination to be independent and hope that continues so that you will grow up to be a successful person!  We love you!

Love,
Mommy
